Procrastination. Hands up who is guilty of it? In today’s world of mass communication, it’s much easier to talk than create action. Our attention is so often diverted by a plethora of ‘newness’. It takes the form of everything, be it fashion, beauty products, limited editions, sales, new food products, new schools of thought and of course technology. Nothing seems to have much stickiness outside websites such as facebook and twitter but they by nature are full of transient information. We ‘know’ what is ‘best’ for us, but how often to we make excuses to avoid the inevitable?
Making changes to your life is really just trading one habit for another. Why does putting effort into something cause so many so much mental anguish? Think about it, how many things do you do without a second thought that used to be challenging when you were introduced to it?
As a nutritionist and coach it is my job to encourage change and the most frequent answer I get from clients when discussing change is “I don’t have time”. Time is what you make it. Everyone has the same amount and you can never get it back once it’s gone. I truly believe that if you want something enough then you can make the appropriate changes to your schedule and soon they will become second nature.
